Jackson, MS mayor, Chokwe Lumumba, was asked during a radio interview what to do with the now retired Mississippi State Flag. Mayor Lumumba's response: "Well, I know that it will no longer be flying over my children's heads." I thought to myself, 'The Mississippi State Flag was the LEAST of your concerns when it comes to what is flying over your children's heads in THIS LAND. That flag coming down was a mere concession-not unlike a nationalized Juneteenth holiday or "electing" a black mayor. It's what they offer the slaves to keep them pacified while something way more sinister is prepared to be dealt from the hands of our oppressors. It's an exercise in futility for the mayor to rejoice over the lowering of that flag while so many other far worse things remain waving proudly over our children's heads.
